Our English Through Academic Subjects programme at SBC at Eton College offers students between the ages of 13-16 years old the opportunity to combine English language development with furthering their knowledge of key mainstream school subjects: Mathematics, STEM, Business and General English.
All subjects are taught in English using a communicative approach so that in addition to learning about the subject itself, all students will develop their confidence in using English communicatively, collaboratively, and creatively. Students have 15 hours of lessons each week.
The English Through Academic Subjects programme culminates with our Time to Shine Ceremony. On the final afternoon of each course, our classes will present their final research project to their peers. Time to Shine provides every student with the opportunity to showcase their subject knowledge, improved confidence and newfound presentation skills, as well as congratulate each other on their academic achievements.
Academic Excursion Overview
During their stay students will also spend an afternoon in Oxford participating in an academic talk or workshop that is linked to their chosen subject. These workshops are designed to supplement what the students have been learning at the college and encourage them to actively apply their knowledge and skills in a practical setting.
